Survey on C TRAC use vs Surgery.

This survery was done through the internet on patients that acquired their C TRAC through the internet. We asked 7 questions which focused on use of C TRAC vs surgery for Carpal Tunnel Syndrome.  To our surprise 14.6% responded to the survey which is much more than the 5-6% which usually responds to surveys.

It is important to note these patients used C TRAC prior to surgery and 75% of the patients that were told they needed surgery to treat their CTS were able to cancel or avoid surgery.

These are real patients, we did not pay them in any way for answering the survey, and we are very greatful they did answer. Below is a summary of the results.

Patient Survey on C TRAC and Surgery.

In order to further evaluate the results of C TRAC we used an internet survey. It was a 7 question survey focusing on their CTS symptoms after using C TRAC and its relation to their need for surgery and symptom improvement. The survey was done through the internet via Constant Contact on patients that had purchased C TRAC through the internet.

The survey was completed in Nov, 2010. One hundred and seventy eight 178 questionnaires were sent via the internet and we received 26 responses. To our surprise 14.6% responded, the usual is 5-6%.

The results showed that of the 26 responders 15 had been told they needed Carpal Tunnel Release Surgery by their physician. After using C TRAC, 80% of those 15 patients had been able to avoid Carpal Tunnel Release Surgery. Only 3 out of 15 had the surgery. It is important to note these were patients that were told they needed CTR surgery.

We asked how much C TRAC helped you “a lot”, “a little”, or “not at all”?

Thirteen of 26 (50%) reported a lot, 8/26 a little and 5/26 not at all. Of the total C TRAC users 7 of 26 patients had surgery. One of them did not improve with the surgery either. The average time using C TRAC was 3 months.

The survey confirmed the findings in the studies where most of the patients did not need to have Carpal Tunnel Release surgery.
